7.5" Fillet knife in CPM Magnacut stainless with G-Carta "Rainbow Trout" scales
The 7.5" satin finish blade is hand-ground from CPM-Magnacut steel. Steels that offer very high corrosion resistance tend to be softer, and therefore less able to hold a sharp edge, so this has historically been an area of compromise. CPM-Magnacut, however, has successfully used a formula that balances the carbon and chromium content, resulting in a knife that at high hardness (63-64 hrc in this case) holds a keen, long-lasting edge while achieving extremely high levels of rust resistance.
The blade is a full flat grind and the edge is convex ground to 15 degrees per side (30 degrees inclusive). The spine has been rounded for comfort.
Ground from .065” thick stock, this is a thin blade with a moderate amount of flex that will fillet fish and slice meats/poultry with ease.
The handle of this knife was made from G.L. Hansen’s “Rainbow Trout” pattern G-Carta. This is a composite material made from layers of fabrics infused with epoxy which gets heated, pressurized and formed into blocks making for a visually striking and very tough handle. The liners are made from purple G10.
The included tension-adjustable Kydex sheath is equipped with a removable Spyderco G-Clip that allows for verticle, diagonal or horizontal carry. It can be clipped to a belt, pocket or fish-cleaning bucket.
Not recommended for the dishwasher; as with all quality knives this should be washed by hand and dried immediately.
